Maximilian Davis Reinterprets Jazz Age Freedom and Boldness

British designer Maximilian Davis is reinventing Italian luxury at Ferragamo, infusing the storied house with contemporary elegance and fresh vision. Marking his third year as creative director at just 29, Davis transforms Ferragamo’s legacy into new directions with Spring/Summer 2026.
For SS26, Davis returns to the brand’s roots, drawing from the exuberance and daring of the Roaring Twenties. Inspired by a 1925 photograph of silent film icon Lola Todd, he sets out to explore the aesthetics of extravagance and excess.
“I was fascinated by how materials and textiles from Africa and the Caribbean were imported to Europe and America and became cultural markers of status,” Davis notes. This season, his vision recreates the Africana Jazz Age in precise tailoring and animated animal prints.

The show featured a procession of speakeasy-inspired suiting—sleek lapels and tonal scarves, while leopard and zebra prints adorned lightweight dresses and translucent tops. Flapper fringe shimmered beneath the lights, contrasted with Harlem Renaissance zoot suits and sharp leather ties, merging the golden age of dandyism with a distinctly modern twist.
